dream kitchen…

18/02/2010

I am looking forward to someday having a beautiful open white kitchen to decorate all my own!  I love to cook and bake and to me the kitchen is the window to the entire house.  It’s where family dinners and coffee conversations transpire, where small moments turn into memories that will last a lifetime.  As with the rest of my house, I want my kitchen to be a tranquil and quiet place to be.  I love the idea of baby blue in a kitchen with white cabinets and stainless steel appliances…mmmm…heaven!  This website is one that I happened upon by accident, it is a british site and i may take a while to get your order but it is certainly worth it!  www.keepcalmgallery.com has prints, notecards, dishtowels and coffee mugs in amazing vintage inspired some one of a kind prints.  I love this baby blue poster with this amazing table and chairs, it’s so peaceful, you just need a cup of hot tea and the morning paper to enjoy oh and maybe a homemade muffin, yum!  Check it out, I can guarantee that you won’t regret it!

love at first stitch...

So if a pink typewriter would make me happy, just imagine the pure and utter joy if this amazing little thing came into my life! The vintage pink atlas sewing machine, they’re hard to find and I’m sure extremely out of my budget, but that doesn’t stop a girl from dreaming now does it?

the best way to write...

I think that I have decided that this little pink typewriter is quite necessary to my happiness in life!  I have been looking for a vintage typewriter for several years but the ones that work, I can’t afford and the ones that I can afford, well they don’t work anymore.  I want one for the look, yes, but I really want to use it.  There is something very beautiful about writing and not being able to backspace or delete things.  Plus the traditional font is amazing!  I would love to use it for a plethora of things like crafts and photo captions and idea drafting…hmmm…so what it boils down to is that I simply must find this!  Plus, how amazing would this look on my little desk?  Ok, I’m on it…

my nightlight...

Some of my best ideas have come from Martha Stewart.  During her Christmas Craft e-mail blasts this fabulous little piece of art came bouncing into my inbox.  I already had an 18×24 artist canvas at my house, so I painted it a very light baby pink and charted out the design for the lights on the back with a pencil.  As Martha suggested I used an awl to poke the holes thru from the back and then popped in small white christmas lights and put a little e6000 glue around them to hold them in place!  It was a great addition to my baby pink Christmas tree and after the holidays has become a wonderful nightlight on my night stand!  I love waking up next to this…

a sweet message...

For the last few months I have been using my laptop and doing any computer work on my studio table in my workroom. This was all fine and well except I had to stand up to do so… Not exactly ideal for getting any actual work done. So, I found an antique desk for cheap and pulled out some of my favorite stationary, pens and notepads and created a happy little space to work! Complete with my very favorite message of all time in pink framed above I have a perfect little hideaway. Next I needed a message board to pin ideas and notes to… so I found a frame that I had purchased at Target a while back that I hadn’t been using and took out the glass, cut down a piece of thin cork board (I bought them in a pack of four 12″ squares at Target) and poof! a cute little cork board to match my antique beach desk! I added a few favorite things, an inspiring quote or two and now I feel at home…
